Codematic
Questions
Which kinds of codes can be added
App Store offer codes (for subscriptions and in-app purchases), app promo codes, and any other codes of your own. You choose the type when you add codes: Offer code, App promo code or Other code. With an offer code CSV from App Store Connect, Codematic reads the type and which app the codes are for from the file.
Where to get the offer code CSV
In App Store Connect, open the offer codes for the subscription or in-app purchase and create one-time use codes. That gives you a CSV to download. Put it in the Files app, tap Add codes and choose Import CSV file.
Importing the same file twice
If codes in the file are already in another roll, the app says File already imported and adds nothing. If that roll is in the Trash, you can restore it from the alert.
Copying the link or the code
Each roll has a choice of Link, Code or Both at the top of its screen. Opening an offer code link takes the recipient to the App Store's redeem screen. Offer code rolls without an App Store ID, and other codes, copy the code only.
Undoing a code handed out by mistake
Tap Undo on the card right after issuing, or swipe the entry under Handed out in the menu. The code goes back to the unused ones and the recipient name you typed for it is cleared. The app cannot tell whether a code you already sent has been redeemed.
Seeing whether a code was redeemed
The app does not show this. Codematic records which code you gave to whom. Redemption is shown in App Store Connect.
A roll deleted by mistake
A deleted roll stays in the Trash with its codes for 30 days. Restore it from Trash at the end of the list of rolls. After 30 days it is removed for good the next time the app opens.
Other devices
Rolls and codes are stored in iCloud and appear on the iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple Account. The Info screen shows the status under iCloud storage. Without an iCloud sign-in they are stored on that device. An App Store Connect API key is added on each device separately.
Creating the App Store Connect API key, and where it is kept
Create a team key under Users and Access, Integrations in App Store Connect, or an individual key in your user profile there, then enter the Key ID and the .p8 file. A team key also needs the Issuer ID. The steps are under How to create a key in the app. The key is stored only in the Keychain of the device you add it on and does not go to iCloud or to other devices. The .p8 file can be downloaded only once, so keep the original.
Removing the key
Open Info, choose App Store Connect key and tap Delete key. Imported rolls stay. To stop the key from working at all, revoke it in App Store Connect.
A code just issued does not work in the App Store
Codes created in App Store Connect can take a few hours before Apple accepts them.
Expiration reminders
No notifications are sent. The expiration date is shown on the roll's screen.
App languages
The app is in English and Korean. It follows whichever of the two comes first in the device's preferred languages, and appears in English when neither is listed.
