OnPace uses location together with the Lock Screen card while a trip runs, and stops when you tap Stop or two minutes after you arrive. If the app is force-quit or reinstalled in the middle of a trip, iOS can keep the indicator. Restarting the phone clears it.

While Using the App is enough. Always is not needed. During a trip the Lock Screen card stays up, so location keeps coming with the screen off or another app open.

Turn on Settings > OnPace > Live Activities. If the card can't be shown, the app sends a notification instead, as long as notifications are on.

Turn on Transit to the next checkpoint when you edit a checkpoint. On the Edit route map the same switch reads Subway from here to the next checkpoint. With it on, the gap you boarded with carries until you get off, even when the signal drops underground. Live bus and subway data is not used.

Put two checkpoints at the same place with their times apart, and that becomes a waiting leg. Arrive early and it shows Wait here until it is time to go.

Recently Deleted on the home screen keeps the last three routes you deleted. Tap Recover to bring one back. A recovered route counts toward your routes again.

Tap Restore purchase on the purchase screen. Family Sharing is on, so your family can use it too.
